BIWIN recently concluded its Global Media Day, welcoming more than 20 leading gaming and technology influencers from around the world to its advanced semiconductor packaging and testing facility in Huizhou.
During the event, attendees experienced BIWIN’s Mini SSD technology firsthand and toured the company’s memory packaging and testing production lines, gaining deeper insight into its manufacturing capabilities and product innovation.
Under the theme of “The Bigger World of Smaller Storage,” the visit also featured in-depth discussions on BIWIN’s end-to-end AI storage strategy, highlighting its vision for next-generation storage solutions.
Mini SSD at the Forefront of BIWIN’s AI PC Storage Portfolio
The event began with hands-on demonstrations of BIWIN’s core product portfolio and the highlight of the showcase was BIWIN’s Mini SSD, featuring an industry-first standardized plug-and-play slot design. Measuring just 15.00 mm × 17.00 mm × 1.40 mm, approximately half the size of a coin, the Mini SSD delivers PCIe Gen 4 x2 performance, capacities of up to 2 TB, and sequential read/write speeds of up to 3,700 MB/s and 3,400 MB/s, respectively.
By combining high performance, compact form factor, and upgradeability in an ultra-small footprint, the Mini SSD addresses longstanding trade-offs between performance, size, and upgradeability in storage design.
The Mini SSD continues to earn broad industry recognition, receiving multiple international awards for its innovative design and practical value, including TIME’s Best Inventions of 2025, the 2026 Edison Bronze Award, the CES 2026 TWICE Picks Award, MWC 2026 Best in Show, Embedded World Best in Show, and the Arab Overclockers Best Product Award.
In the hands-on demo area, guests experienced gaming handhelds and AI PCs from OneXPlayer, GPD, and other manufacturers powered by the Mini SSD. The demonstrations highlighted the product’s unique combination of a compact form factor, high performance, and expandability for edge AI and gaming applications.
The showcase also featured BIWIN’s three consumer storage product lines, which include SSDs, DRAM, portable SSDs, and memory cards.
Designed for gaming enthusiasts, the Black Opal series delivers high-performance storage with the reliability required for demanding gaming workloads. The Amber series combines strong performance with a lightweight design, providing content creators with efficient and dependable portable storage solutions. Meanwhile, the Biwin-branded products strike an optimal balance between performance and value, offering reliable, cost-effective storage solutions for PC users and content creators.
Together, these three product ranges cover a diversity of storage use cases, spanning gaming, content creation, and everyday computing applications.
Engaging Global Media, Sharing BIWIN’s Storage Innovation Story
During the discussion session, Melody Liu, Head of BIWIN’s Advanced Packaging and Testing Business, provided an overview of the company’s strategy, product portfolio, and recent developments.
Liu explained that combining in-house product development with advanced packaging and testing capabilities, BIWIN delivers high-performance, reliable storage solutions for emerging AI edge devices, smart mobile devices, automotive applications, and enterprise markets. These capabilities are supported by BIWIN’s large manufacturing footprint, which includes two major production sites: an advanced memory packaging and testing facility in Huizhou and an advanced wafer-level packaging and testing facility in Dongguan.
Today, BIWIN serves more than 500 customers worldwide, with business operations spanning over 60 countries and regions. BIWIN has also established a strong presence in emerging application segments, including storage solutions for smartwatches and AI-powered smart glasses.
Clark Deng, BIWIN’s Overseas PR Manager, highlighted the company’s consumer storage strategy and product portfolio by addressing the growing demand for edge AI, gaming, and mobile content creation. BIWIN is expanding its portfolio of high-performance, reliable storage solutions tailored to a wide range of consumer applications.
This strategy has translated into strong market adoption and industry recognition. BIWIN’s products have received recognition from leading hardware outlets and benchmarking platforms worldwide, further expanding BIWIN’s presence in global consumer storage markets.
During the interactive session, media participants engaged in discussions on BIWIN’s product strategy, core technologies, and the design approach behind the Mini SSD.
Several attendees noted the Mini SSD offers a welcomed differentiated approach to storage expansion in compact devices. Industry KOLs also commented on the rapid pace of innovation in the storage industry and the growing level of technological competition across the sector.
Exploring BIWIN’s Advanced Packaging and Testing Capabilities
At the end of the program, media participants toured BIWIN’s packaging and testing production lines and laboratories, observing the full semiconductor assembly process from wafer grinding and die attach to wire bonding, molding, and final testing.
BIWIN’s capability in advanced packaging technologies, including ultra-thin 30-40 μm dies and up to 32-layer stacked die structures, drew strong attention from attendees.
During the laboratory tour, guests learned more about BIWIN’s quality management system. Before entering mass production, each product undergoes an impressive series of validation processes, including electrical, functional, compatibility, and environmental reliability testing.
